What is PING?
In layman terms, Ping means “to get the attention of” or “to check for the presence of” a particular entity online. Ping operates by sending a packet to a designated address and waiting for a response. Ping stands for Packet Internet or Inter-Network Groper. It was contrived to match the submariners’ term for the sound of a returned sonar pulse.
Ping can also refer to the process of sending a message to all the members of a mailing list requesting an ACK (acknowledgement code). This is done before sending e-mail in order to confirm that all of the addresses are reachable.

We have a new bookmark available, please pick it up here.
In Bookmarking Demon 4.0.0.4, Ping works this way,

- You have to manually add your Ping services into Bookmarking Demon (the user manual that comes with the 4.0.0.4 upgrade has a list of Ping services that you can copy and paste from).
- Click “Start Ping”.
- Once started, Ping will not stop (unless you tell it to), it will keep working in the background.
- Based on the setting you defined in “Preferences”, it will attempt to Ping every random xx minutes.
- Whenever new bookmarks are performed, when it detects, it will put it into the Ping queue.
- You can also manually trigger Ping to look out for new profiles for bookmark by clicking on “Refresh Ping List”
In short, you can just hit Ping, and let Bookmarking Demon takes care of it for you. Hope this explains how Ping works in Bookmarking Demon.
